2014 . 12 . 12 | The Food Assembly : Yes to local !
Today, we introduce you what we- at PJ Transervices - believe to be a stunning revolutionary way to recreate our own food chain system by drastically rethinking the whole logistic process.
The Food Assembly, a revolutionary platform initially started in France (what better place than France when it comes to FOOD!), also known as " La Ruche Qui Dit Oui " in its original French version (which would barely translate into " The Hive That Says Yes" but it goes without saying that this vague translation wouldn't be really relevant in regards to the company's main activity here), was officially launched in 2011 and is now counting more than 600 "organic vegan" food hives along France and Belgium...
The Food Assembly's main motto could be summed up as follows : get together to buy directly from local farmers and foodmakers.
Each " assembly " organizes weekly online sales via the main platform (great effort here, we got to know that their development team has already launched the v.3 of the online platform), where everyone can order what they want.
Then each "assembly" organizes a weekly even where people their orders directly from farmers.
Each "assembly" is unique, everyone can open an assembly and it can basically take place everywhere...
Eat Fairer, Eat Better...
Here is a video presentation of that very fast growing eco friendly (or shall we rather say, "human friendly"??) "company".
Since launching its first Food Assembly in September 2011 near Toulouse, in south western France, CEO Guilhem Cheron told a German media that the network has grown to more than 500 assemblies in the country with more than 3,000 farmers delivering to communities.
"Technology plays an unexpectedly huge role in the company’s business."
"To wit, all of the startup’s online tools are built in-house and more than a quarter of The Food Assembly’s now 40-person team works on the tech side."
CEO Guilhem Cheron recently told a German media that the network has grown to more than 500 assemblies in the country with more than 3,000 farmers delivering to communities.
For our French readers, here's an interview of Cheron.
Conclusion from our own perspective : PJ Translation Services naturally craves for such creative ideas and that given the equally importance and urgency of rethinking our whole chain food production, we would consider helping this great platform grow on an international scale in many different ways, starting with a fully localized platform.
